Richelle Mead, author of the series Vampire Academy and Bloodlines, are now here with
another fantastic new series. It’s called Age of X, and Gameboard of the Gods is
the first book. It’s a bit rougher, and the target market this time is Adults,
instead of the usual YA she writes. And she really hits all the marks of a
truly great read.
In this new
series, we get to follow Justin and Mae who are thrown together by the
government to solve a string of ritualistic murders. They are both plagued by Gods. Justin have
two crows in his head, and knows that there is someone up there, with the
powers that be, that have a invested interest in his future. And he knows that someone dark has a claim on
Mae, even if she don’t know it herself.
And the gods doesn’t play fair.
This book
is a great start to an epic journey that will tickle your imagination and weave
together mythology and magic with hardcore science-fiction. I had troubles
putting this book down when I started reading it, because it kept building the
mystery all the way through the book. The way Justin and Mae try to deny their
destined love is also somewhat of a sweet point in this book. Nothing keeps you
reading when you don’t know if the doomed lovers will ever find a way together.
